The Waverly varsity baseball team won the Olivet Eagle tournament on Saturday. The Warriors beat Algonac in their first game by a score of 8-1. RJ Ostrom moved to 5-1 on the year pitching a complete game. Ostrom scattered six hits while striking out 4. Griffin Sika was the offensive star of the opener with 2 doubles and 3 runs batted in. RJ Ostrom had 3 hits driving in a run, and Joe Luzbetak has hits in both his at bats. Olivet defeated Haslett 10-3 in the other opening round game setting up a championship matchup with the Warriors. Waverly rolled to a 5 inning 10-0 victory over Olivet to claim the title. Andrew Kerrigan had two hits including a double that plated 2 runs. JJ Arroyo drove in 3 runs and Joe Luzbetak knocked in 2. Jacob Hartman was on base all 4 at bats with a single and 3 walks, scoring 3 times. Jayden Knapp masterfully pitched the Warriors to the victory. Knapp hit his spots all game throwing only 48 pitches in the 5 inning mercy. Knapp gave up 2 hits while striking out 2. The Warriors are now 11-9-1 on the season and host Everett on Monday at 4pm.
