Warriors News · Softball Grand Slams Okemos Scoring 37 runs

The girls Varsity softball team won a doubleheader last night against Okemos with scores of 23-7 game 1 and 14-13 game 2.

The Warriors got off to a slow start trailing 7-2 in the 2nd inning. Then the bats woke up with 3 HRs including 2 grand slams leading the Warriors to a 23-7 victory in game 1. Leading the offense was Mackenzie Beauchamp 3 for 3 with a GS and 7RBI, Jailyn Gonzales 3 for 4 with a GS, 2B and 6 RBI, Marra Allen 2 for 4 HR, 2B and 4 RBI, Ashely Thompson 2 for 4 2 RBI, Destiny Campbell 2 for 2 RBI and Teresa Green 2 for 4 with an RBI. The winning pitcher was Jailyn Gonzales.

In game 2 the Warriors once again started off slow trailing 4-0 battled back to take a 13-7 lead into the 6th inning only to have Okemos tie the game. In the top of the 7th Peyton Mowry’s double prove to be the game winner and gave the Warriors the lead for good winning 14-13! Mackenzie Beauchamp was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI, Marra Allen 2 for 4 2B 2 RBI and Peyton Mowry 2 for 5 2B 2 RBI. Peyton Mowry was the winning pitcher and Jailyn Gonzales picked out the save.

The Warriors are back to 500 with a record of 11-11 and will be on the road Thursday against East Lansing.
